MONTESSORI School

In partnership with The Moringa Foundation, we are excited to share that the doors have opened to our very own Montessori style school within our Village! The purpose of this joint project is to create a learning center for the younger children of Uryadi’s Village as we all know how incredibly important early education is to the overall success of children. The Montessori approach has been chosen because it organizes education in a way that matches the energy and needs of the individual children naturally, and allows space for the integration of our children with special needs. It's an approach that encourages children to face their world with confidence and imagination seems particularly important for our children who have already started life with so many obstacles. We also recognize the desirability of integrating certain aspects of Montessori philosophy into the whole community. Values such as responsibility, grace and courtesy, beauty, working with the hands, mixing ages, can all be developed with the older children and staff, to foster a more coherent environment for all. This method of teaching also encourages children to be strong in themselves, aware of their environment and own abilities, growing up confident and conscious of the importance of contributing to their society: be it to Uryadi’s Village now or to the larger community as they integrate school and grow older. 

We currently offer preschool through third grade on site, educating over 60 of our children.
